    The exhibitions Urgent Conversations: Athens–Antwerp and Urgent Conversations: Antwerp – Athens are a collaboration between EMST and M HKA, a theoretical and visual dialogue, based on works from the collections of both museums, which includes more than 70 works structured in 22 topics.

    "Wout Vercammen calls himself a modernist artist, one who has assimilated a great many influences.  He applies (in some works) variations onto the basic template of the Belgian national flag and its three colors.  Fresh color-ripples span like rainbows above grubby surfaces or above planes that are simply 'clean'.  The irregular geometric patterns and the colored bands betray the influence of Frank Stella.  Vercammen practices letter-painting and one notices the impact of texts in large letters and playful finds, for example 'Marcel meets Duchamp'."

    "Wout Vercammen rept zich als een modernistische kunstenaar die heel wat invloeden heeft verwerkt. Hij brengt variaties op een basisvorm en op de kleuren van de Belgische vlag. Frisse kleurrepels staan als regenbogen gespannen over morsige vlakken of over velden die slechts 'clean' zijn. De onregelmatige geometrische patronen en de gekleurde banden verraden de invloed van Frank Stella. Vercammen beoefent het letterschilderen en men bemerkt de impakt van teksten in grote letters en van speelse vondsten, b.v. 'Marcel meets Duchamps'."
